Our Neighbourhood Scavenger Hunt/Phrase Unscramble 

The TOURISM CHALLENGE is an annual opportunity to re-educate individuals that work in the tourism industry and enjoy the outstanding attractions, world class hotels and explore the amazing neighbourhoods and communities that our region has to offer, so that we are ready to welcome our guests and SHARE our passion and knowledge.

Below is our Day Out challenge where you will walk downtown Maple Ridge, check out some amazing businesses and collect words along the way.  Once you have all 6 words put them in the correct order, share it with our final stop and will receive 3 stamps.   


Welcome to the Downtown Word Scavenger Hunt Challenge!

Your mission: Explore downtown, support local, and uncover a 6-word phrase—one word at a time!

Here’s how to play:

  1. Parking on Selkirk Ave or Dewdney Trunk Rd is 2-hour parking. Parking on 224th St, is only 1-hour parking.
  2. Visit 6 participating businesses and ask for the secret word. Feel free to check out their amazing array of products or enjoy a sampling.
  3. Put the words into the correct order.
  4. Go to The Act Arts Centre to their front reception and tell them the phrase.
  5. If correct, they will stamp your Tourism Challenge book.

Monkey Business Kid's Boutique

Open: Monday - Friday 11am - 5pm, Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sunday 11am - 4pm.

Sugar and Spice Body Care

Sugar & Spice Hand Made Bath & Body Care offers a collection of handcrafted, small-batch products made with clean, locally sourced ingredients. AbracaShaba Focacceria

AbracaShaba Focacceria brings an artisanal, small-batch approach to downtown dining, specializing in naturally leavened sourdough focaccia and thoughtfully crafted sandwiches. Each item is made fresh daily, showcasing high-quality ingredients and a commitment to traditional baking techniques. The space feels both modern and welcoming, making it an easy stop for visitors exploring the downtown core. T's Once Upon a Tea Leaf

Open: Tuesday - Friday 11am - 5:30pm, Saturday 11am - 5pm, Sunday 11am - 4pm. Closed Mondays

T’s is a whimsical and immersive retail experience centered around a curated “tea library” of premium loose-leaf blends from around the world. Beyond tea, the boutique offers a thoughtful mix of gifts, apparel, and accessories that invite browsing and discovery. The atmosphere is warm and imaginative, encouraging visitors to slow down and explore. Knowledgeable staff enhance the experience with personalized recommendations and product insight. It’s a standout stop for those looking to discover something unique and locally rooted.

FINAL STOP - The ACT Arts Centre

The ACT Arts Centre is a featured stop in our Tourism Challenge. 1st you need to look for the word within the Clay for You: Lineage Exhibition (3rd floor).
Once you have all six words, put them together to form the unique phrase. Share the completed phrase with the front desk team to receive your stamp.

The ACT Arts Centre serves as the cultural heart of Maple Ridge, offering a diverse lineup of live performances, exhibitions, and community programming year-round. From theatre and music to comedy and visual arts, it provides an accessible entry point into the region’s creative scene.

Clay for You: Lineage explores how artistic knowledge is passed through generations of Korean ceramic tradition. Founded by master potter Jung Hong Kim, the Clay for You collective brings together 10 - 13 artists working from their Maple Ridge studio over the past decade. The exhibition features celadon and buncheong-inspired works alongside traditional techniques such as inlay, carving, and openwork, as well as recreations of historical Korean ceramics from the Goryeo Dynasty. Exhibit is on the first floor.
