MapleRidge

On Thursday, May 31, 2018 the level of the Fraser River dropped below 5.5 metres at the Mission gauge for the first time since mid-May. The BC River Forecast Centre has ended their High Streamflow Advisory for the Fraser River. The latest information can be found here bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/warnings/index.htm.

Based on the updated information, the City of Maple Ridge will close the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) and has rescinded the Evacuation Advisory for residents living on the Fraser River side of the Wharf Street dyke that was issued on May 16, 2018.

Operations staff will continue to conduct regular dyke inspections as the water levels are projected to remain high for at least a week. Citizens are reminded to exercise caution in and around the Fraser River as the flow rates will remain high for this period.

During the Spring Freshet citizens were asking how they could be of assistance to their neighbours. In the coming weeks The City of Maple Ridge will be reaching out to recruit volunteers to join the Emergency Support Services (ESS) program. This is a way that you can help your neighbours impacted by an emergency in their time of need. Look for information on upcoming Open Houses or, if you would like to sign up right away, contact Patrick Cullen, Emergency Program Coordinator for the City of Maple Ridge by email at pcullen@mapleridge.ca or by phone at 604-467-7301.
