A group of South Haney neighbours came together to plan a Candy Cane Walk for CP Holiday Train participants who were passing through their neighbourhood on the walk between the downtown parking lots and the Port Haney holiday train stop.

The neighbours, including resident volunteers and community non-profit groups located in South Haney came up with a festive idea to help create a welcoming and fun experience in their neighbourhood on 224th Street.

Here is a link to the Candy Cane Walk video.

The South Haney volunteers were successful in applying for a Neighbourhood Small Grant (NSG) from the City of Maple Ridge. The NSG program is based on the small but powerful idea: when people feel a sense of connection to their neighbourhood, they are more likely to be engaged in activities that make it a better place to live.
