DMRBIA iconThe Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association (DMRBIA) is the recipient of Best in the West awards, after being a part of the BIABC Conference in Nanaimo. The purpose of the conference was to bring BIAs from different communities together, to “share ideas about creating and nurturing a vibrant business area.

BIABC 2017 AwardBIAs from all over submitted their projects, events and initiatives in 8 categories and the one DMRBIA project to win award this year is “one-stop-shop” for Business Licensing & Permits in the Downtown Leadership & Management category.

In response to needs identified by the business community, DMRBIA advocated with the City of Maple Ridge to create a “one-stop-shop” for Business Licensing & Permits.
A “Customer Service Coordinator, Licenses & Permits” position was created. This persons' role is to liaise between businesses and an assortment of city departments, to make the permit and license process clear and simple for entrepreneurs.
Through these objectives, new businesses opening in Downtown Maple Ridge wouldn't feel this outstanding resentment towards the City of Maple Ridge. Thereby, Maple Ridge would become a friendlier place for businesses in the future; reflecting Downtown Maple Ridge is "Open for Business"!
